If you have never been trained in basic first aid, the main thing to remember is TRY NOT TO PANIC. Think about the situation and use common sense.
Some people will faint at the sight of blood, but when you wake up, the injury will still require attention. IF you are bleeding, that is a good sign that you need to staunch the flow of blood. If it is coming out in spurts or pulsing, put pressure on it ASAP...it is a sign that an artery has been damaged - that is a vein being fed directly from the heart, so it could cause you to bleed out.
Scrapes & minor burns can usually wait to be treated after bleeding and broken bones are taken care of. It is a good idea to try to calmly assess injuries and deal with them by priority.
We have a handy first aid sheet that can help anyone who can read (English or Spanish) and has some first aid items on hand. We give them away free for joining us & signing up online. Let us know you visited by going here and filling out the online contact form & we will mail you one, or include it with your order.
After you receive it, review it, so there will be some knowledge to fall back on & use in an emergency, then stick it in with your first aid kit.
They can also be ordered for 75 cents or packs of 100...a great deal for businesses or teachers.
We want all our visitors & customers to not just survive & stay alive; we want you to thrive after the SHTF. The best way to do that is KNOWLEDGE that gives you the confidence that you are prepared for whatever comes your way.
